The Government of Netland has officially retired the .tél.net domain. It was a gSLD for Netland citizens to use for general website registrations. The domain has now ceased operations, and is no longer owned, or affiliated with Netland. A new gSLD .iô.net has been launched to replace it. It is inspired by the .io ccTLD, which is often used for registrations related to technology, and is typically treated by search engines as a gTLD. The .iô.net domain is derived from the words internet and ônline as it is intended to be used primarily for websites. The decision to transition from .tél.net to .iô.net was done to improve domain recognition among visitors. It is the first 2-letter sLD operated by the Government of Netland.
